Pow Wow Images

I received permission from my friend Megan to use some of her photos from a recent PowWow in our area. I chose three men in their regalia. I painted them realistically but blurred out one area on each of them. Two of them are taking shape as you can see here.

Fibre Gang Show and Tell

It is great to see what other fibre artists are creating. Show and tell is always great!

Fibre Gang Ink Alcohol Dyeing

A group of fibre artists met at JoAnns house to have a 'play' date!  JoAnn and Lori took us through a new technique of dyeing with ink markers and rubbing alcohol. A fun if not rather smelly activity!

Dons Woodworking Shop

Don decided to build a wood working shop. The process has begun.  Mike dug, piped a poured the concrete for a heated floor.

Now Russ has begun the construction. So far we have two walls up. Working on the third wall today.

Huicholes: A People Walking Towards the Light

One of the shows at the Textile Museum was of the fibre art of the Huichikes, a tribe of people from Mexico. Their work is very colourful and symbolic of their Animalistic Religious beliefs. Bright coloured yarns are pressed into a bees wax covered gourde or board. The resulting images are vivid.
